Introduction
Before we establish a logical correlation between population and environment, we are better of discussing the meanings of both of the terms.
Generally speaking, population denotes the number of people living in a territory. In fact, to form a population, there has to be definite territory in which people collectively live.
The study of population is called demography which not only studies the size of population but also encompasses a systematic categorization of the people on different bases like age, sex, occupation etc.
On the other hand, environment is the summation of different components like air, land and water. In more clear words, it is the surrounding in which something exists. However, environment is also use to signify the greenery as we often encounter the people saying that the environment is very good in a certain place. Whatever they say, man, along with vegetation, air, water, animal kingdoms including the aquatic as well as aerial creatures collectively constitute the environment.
Interrelation between population and environment
As population itself is integral part of environment as well as indispensable part, we can say that they are greatly co-related like said before, environment is anything that hems is something. This is to say environment is where population emerged. As a matter of fact, it also dissolves in the environment. In more clear words, there was already an environment even before the evolution of plants let along be the animals and man.
Population is always in the receptive end in this relationship; it hardly provides anything to the environment. Moreover, population is conditioned in such a way that it has to exploit the environment to subsist. True enough, population further more, derives ingredients required to fulfill almost all the needs.
On the other hand, population creates activities grossly negative. These activities results in many detrimental ecological malfunction. It is because of these activities, we have fatal environmental problems like global temperature rise, desertification, acid rain, green house effect etc.
To put it in a nutshell, the relationship between environment and population is some how identical of giver and taker relationship in which environment gives and population takes.
